Sleeping Giants (Themis Files #1)

Sleeping Giants (Themis Files #1)

Myth: 3/5

I really enjoyed how this book was written. Everything is told through the lens of interviews, journal entries or military operation recordings. Most of the interviews are done by our unknown instigator of the entire operation. The first books spends a lot of time building the team and the team dynamics, but I really enjoyed how it also evolved the political story of what could/would happen if an alien robot was found and assembled and the power struggle/political scheming needed to make sure it is used in the “right” way.

Magic: 3/5

The premise of this series assumes intelligent life that created and left this robot on Earth. I will say that while we don’t get much alien encounter in the first book, we do get to hear the mysterious lunch conversation between our instigator and the man with no eyebrows (it's great when none of the characters are named).  We definitely get a more magical glimpse into what is waiting in the books to come in this series.

Overall: 3/5

Very enjoyable read! I started the next book right away. I’m eager to see what happens next especially with what we’re left with in the epilogue!
