Review:

Myth: 5/5

Set against the backdrop of New York City, nine Greek gods have been punished to be mortal for seven days, every seven years. I loved that the family lines of the hunters were some of humanity's best warriors according to Greek mythology. In the midst of these warrior families, raising their children to hunt the gods, we find Lore. The last of Perseus’s line. She is fierce, constantly walking this dangerous line between wanting to get away from the brutality of the Agon and embracing the weapon she was trained to become.

The story does such a great job highlighting Lore’s choices in a world and situations that seem so outside of her control.

Magic: 4.5/5

The whole world of families of hunters, bred to hunt the gods and ascend to new godhood was fantastic. The old gods trying to hold out against the godkillers seemed perfectly in line with the hubris you’d expect. The gameboard and ascension system was just masterfully crafted.

Overall: 5/5

All the history and cruelty of the Greek gods with a dash of Hunger Games just to keep it interesting. I loved everything about Lore.
