Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J. Maas

Feyre is just trying to provide for her family, when a hunting trip leads her into a magical and dangerous world of faeries. The original series is 3 books, then we get Silver Flames about Feyre’s sister Nesta, and really, it’s anyone’s guess where we go from here.

Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Maiden is chosen in the kingdom. She lives a solitary life, as a religious figure she is not to be spoken to or looked upon by many. Raven Crawford Series by J.C. McKenzie

In a world where fae, shifters, trolls and more are real and out (but frowned upon) Raven Crawford is scraping by. Hidden Legacy Series by Ilona Andrews

A world in which magic is a genetic trait passed through bloodlines and the most powerful families rule. Nevada Baylor is a private investigator with magic that she’s spent her life trying to hide. It’s not so easy when she has to team up with one of the most powerful men in Dallas to solve a case. The first three books in the series are Nevada’s story, then the story line switches to Nevada’s younger sister Catalina. Nevada’s story is the best, Catalina’s is still good, and another book in this series is due out in 2022.

Crown of Shards by Jennifer Estep

Evie is a nobody in the royal line until all of her family members are murdered. To save her life and avenge her family Evie kicks major ass. Adult epic fantasy with, a strong female lead and delightful romantic subplot.

Crown of Shards

The Gargoyle Queen

Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas

Celaena Sardothien may be my favorite heroine of all time. An assassin forced to jump through the king’s hoops to earn her freedom. She is lethal, has a sharp wit and is utterly in love with herself. Her story is epic in scale. There are 7 books in the series. Book 6 takes a detour from Celaena’s story (for which we may never forgive the goddess SJM) but it still moves the overall epic forward.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

Addie has lived an invisible life for 300 years. After a hastily made deal with The Darkness to keep her from marriage in the 1700s, everyone who sees her forgets her as soon as she is out of sight. She is not able to leave any mark on the world, just exist in it on her own. This story was lyrical and perfect.

The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller

I was literally done for (in the best way) with this book with the first two sentences. I’ll just share them as the summary since I think they capture the overall vibe pretty perfectly.

“They never found the body of the first and only boy who broke my heart.

And they never will.”

Go read this book now. You’re welcome.
