Toby is quickly becoming a favorite character of mine and collecting such a unique cast of characters around her. Some of her monsters turned friends are so adorable, you can’t help but smile. Others, have an undercurrent of chemistry that leaps off the page, even if the characters are far from admitting that to themselves yet.
An urban fantasy based in the San Francisco bay area was sure to deal with technology at some point and this locked room murder mystery does just that.

I am a sucker for the blending of magic and technology. This story not only included that, but continued to build on Toby’s blood magic. She is definitely a force to be reckoned with, though I get the feeling she doesn’t quite realize how much she is capable of yet. The magic of the San Francisco/faerie world was only enhanced by the addition of dabbling in software design.
Overall: 4.5/5
Toby is a magnet for trouble and this installment is no different. It’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
