Review:

Myth: 4/5

A classic introduction to the fae world of San Francisco. I will say that the prologue for this book threw me a little bit, but it really only served to further peak my interest in October Daye’s life and story. This is the first in a long established urban fantasy series, so it really lays all the ground work for the cast of characters we can expect throughout the series. I need more of Tybalt, king of the cats in my life and really look forward to his character popping up throughout the series.

Magic: 4/5

I’m a sucker for blood magic. October Daye has a unique family power that lets her ‘ride the blood.’ There are plenty of other magical fae beings introduced in the San Francisco urban fantasy, but Toby’s blood magic has me most intrigued.

Overall: 4/5

All my favorite things, reluctant PI in the fae world, a murder mystery she just can’t quit and all the groundwork for a rich urban fantasy series being built. It was easy to fall into Toby’s world. She is the best kind of heroine, dangerous, rough around the edges, a big old chip on her shoulder and a softy at heart.
