Review:

Myth: 5/5

Our favorite hero of the realm, Toby Daye, is back in action. This book puts the Mists once again on the brink of war. I loved the adventure to the Kingdom of Silences, it gives more backstory for the alchemy and Toby’s ally the professor. It also gave Toby & Tybalt’s relationship more time to shine.

Also, just when I think we can’t learn more about the urban fantasy world, we head to Portland. Due simply to the movement between kingdoms in this book, they talk more about the kingdoms of fae in the US. It’s definitely interesting to think about how many others we’ll get a peak into before the end of the series.

Magic: 5/5

Toby’s got a lot of reputations: knight, blood worker, but she’s starting to let her knew powers, being able to change the blend of the blood of others, get out in fae politics. I love this, because it’s who she is and she can’t help herself, but it definitely sets her up for some new side-eyes from monarchs.

Overall: 5/5

Expect villains you’ll love to hate and Toby’s no-nonsense attitude, jumping into delicate political situations like a bull in a china shop.
