Review:

Myth: 5/5

A year after narrowly avoiding a fae war and taking some steep personal losses, Toby is pulled back into a case looking for a missing child. Her friends are worried, of course, as the missing changling will have to be given the changelings choice. The missing girl however, is also tearing holes through parts of faerie, which leads Toby on a pretty wild ride through the abandoned magical worlds. I couldn’t get enough of Toby finally admitting how much she relied on and trusted her allies. I also love her continued knight/squire relationship with not just Quentin but her unofficial second squire as well.

Magic: 5/5

It’s an amazing build on a part of the world that has been hereto only mentioned. The doors to faerie were closed a long time ago, no one knows what Oberon was doing, but this adventure pokes literal holes in that assumption. Traveling roads that shouldn’t be traveled happens to be a specialty of Toby’s so it’s a delight and no surprise to see her throwing herself headfirst into the unknown.

Overall: 5/5

The collection of characters built over the last five books is really at peak performance as they gravitate around October and her determination to be a hero.
