Review:

Myth: 4.5/5

I just enjoyed the heck out of this book. Toby Daye is undoubtedly the perfect reluctant hero. She even gets to learn that about herself in this book. I love Toby’s self-realizations and her ability to unpack and understand herself, but that not really changing anything about how she was going to proceed with a given plan.

This story plays with the concept of the wild hunt in faerie, and being an October Daye novel, it has a dark twist.

Magic: 5/5

I can’t believe this is only book three in the series. It feels like Toby has made friends with some of the scariest people in faerie and they just can’t help but care about her, I’m looking at you Luidaeg. That means that they will use their power, strength and magic for her. The Luidaeg, likely my favorite character ever, has the magic, the anger and probably only one friend in the world, Toby. I just think they are adorable in every scene. McGuire has created some captivating layers to the fae world and going after the wild hunt sets Toby on a path against some of the highest ranking.

Overall: 4.5/5

An amazingly dark take on the wild hunt and another impressive installment in the October Daye series. I can’t get enough of the fae in the bay area.
