Review:

Myth: 4/5

I’m a little torn on this one. I was so excited to read Aohdan and Illium’s story, it’s such an epic relationship and had so much history. I think that is ultimately what made it a very different romance than any of the others in the series. Aodhan and Illium had so much to figure out, even at almost 400 pages, it didn’t leave anywhere near enough time to explore their romantic relationship.

Magic: 3/5

Illium heads to China, where Aohdan was been acting second. It’s haunting to see Lijuan’s territory as Aohdan and Suyin try to rebuild it. The story also jumped back and forth between the present and past. I really loved the scenes, especially in the Refuge over the years. This story was really able to shine a light on all parts of the beautiful and dangerous Guild Hunter world.

Overall: 4/5

Returning to the world of Archangels and vampires with two characters that I’ve wanted to get to the heart of for years. It lacked the usual sexual tension of one of Nalini Singh’s paranormal romances, but as best friends for hundreds of years, with recent fractures to work through, I was still absolutely swept up in their journey.
