Review:

Myth: 4/5

I really love how Singh builds a character up through prior books and then hits you with a book featuring their story just when you need it. Naasir has been an enigma particularly in the last three books. Elena’s constant game to try and figure out what Naasir is, also has helped put the seven’s familial relationships in the spotlight.

Naasir is openly looking for his mate in this story. He sees the love in the lives of those closest to him and he wants it for himself. He meets his match in the scholar warrior Andi. They are thrown together to try and find a sleeping Ancient that Lijuan is determined to kill.

Although I still certainly enjoyed Naasir’s story, he has been my least favorite male thus far. I think it just has to do with his animalistic nature, without giving anything away, his character type is just much closer to a traditional werewolf or shifter character. While he is still smart, he is all instinct and feeling as opposed to wisdom and seduction.

Magic: 4/5

I’ll just say that finally finding out what Naasir is, especially in relation to one of Andi’s research projects, is just delightful (and of course heartbreaking because that’s what Singh does to us every time).

Overall: 4/5

The Cascade’s impacts are constant and ongoing, another Ancient enters the game and Raphael and his are right at the heart of it all!
