Review:

Myth: 5/5

Book four is Dmitri’s story. We also get to meet a new guild hunter, Honor. We’ve learned a lot about the Archangel’s second in the series so far, but a lot of his past horrors have only been teased. In this book we dive right into Dmitri's forced making and the guilt he carries over what happened to his family.

Dmitri starts to relive the horrors that he had buried so deep as he works with the hunter, Honor, on a string of vampire murders with unique markings. This is Honor’s first case back in the field after her own traumatic experiences.

There was such a beautiful and fragile line being danced between Dmitiri and Honor throughout the book. Dmitri is balancing who he was, what he’s become and what capacity he still has to love, while Honor is working hard to put herself back together only to be consumed by feelings for Dmitri she doesn’t quite understand.

Magic: 5/5

Signh has used flashbacks in her previous books to help fill in the backstory of the immortals as they process what is happening in the present day. Somehow their use this time was even more potent, merging past and present story lines.

Overall: 5/5

Another beautiful installment in the Guild Hunter world. I didn’t know if I’d like veering away from Elena and Raphael’s story, but this side trip was well worth it. I look forward to the books that give other members of the seven a time to show off their character.
