Think of this book as A Conspiracy of Ravens from Bear’s perspective. This gives us a glimpse into how/why he took the job to steal the magical fae item that lead to Raven’s later adventures. This was a quick, fun read for fans of the Raven Crawford series. I didn’t feel like it helped Bear’s case at all, but I’m sure that wasn’t the point :) . I think I would have enjoyed it more if there had been more scenes of Bear and Chloe spending time together. This just wasn’t able to be fully explored in the short story.

I’m always super nervous jumping into a new character perspective in a story or series, but this book didn’t let me down. Years have passed since the events in Queen of Corvids and Juni has not spent them idly. She is running point on investigations and she has continued to educate and prepare herself for inevitable involvement in the fae worlds. In this short story we get an investigation as well as some fae court drama with a dash of potential romances. I definitely look forward to more adventures for Juni.
