Myth: 4/5

Nevermore brings us a little less underworld and a little more private investigation action. Raven is working two cases that may have unexpected connections. She does this while juggling the waitressing job and her newly scheduled underworld lessons with our favorite dark fae lord.

Thankfully, one of Raven’s jobs has to do with tracking her deadbeat ex-boyfriend and while uncovering more of his lies it also helps with a stark contrast of her past mistakes against her potential future with Cole. The sexual tension is high while Raven sorts out what she wants and feels. Our fae lord waits patiently in the shadows while trying to prepare and protect her for her future.

Magic: 4/5

There is a bigger build happening throughout this book with a faction of humans that want to put the walls back up between the human and fae worlds, called closers. The organization is pulling in new members and resources and some of Raven’s new responsibilities put her right in the path of their effort. She’s just starting to figure out her additional powers, while continuing to amass more. I can’t wait to see what she becomes when she fully embraces her new mantle.

Overall: 4/5

We knew Raven’s actions would have more impact than she realized and this book toyed with us as it revealed what killing the Corvid Queen meant. While Raven tries to keep a hold on her half-fae life, the underworld calls.
