Review:

Myth: 5/5

Raven has accepted her mantle and started to place her feet more firmly in the Underworld (with exceptions for family of course). This is the book we’ve been waiting for. She has built a base of family and friends that can help her navigate Underworld politics and she has found a way to take care of her human world problems. While her relationship still hangs in an uneven power balance Cole is nothing but supportive in trying to help her create a stable power base.

What could go wrong? Enter blackmail, kidnapping, and general Underworld mayhem.

Magic: 5/5

I love, love, love Raven’s connection with her scythe. I really like the physical representation of the mantle and the unlocking of battle skills that Raven hasn’t had time to develop. It’s a great level-up of badassness while the effort is still focused on learning to wield her magic.

I also can’t help but gush over the ‘not-fated mates’ explainers and overall magical development of Raven and Cole. It came through at the perfect time in the story and ended up helping balance the characters a bit more.

Overall: 5/5

Well excuse me while I keep raving about Raven. Queen of Corvids delivered, just like the title and cover assured us it would. This was my favorite so far in the series and I can’t wait for more of McKenzie’s take on the Underworld.
