Review:

Myth: 5/5

I was a little unsure about jumping into a prequel story in the Blood and Ash world while the From Blood and Ash series was still in progress, but I officially trust the creative genius that is JLA and Sera and Nyktos’ story absolutely delivered. I now find myself dreaming of when the next Flesh & Fire book will come out.

Sera’s character in a lot of ways was like Poppy, but she also had wholly unique parts to her character, defined by the world and situation in which she was raised. And while we all love Casteel, we’ve moved on to god status, literally. The sexual tension, hidden conflict between Sera & Nyktos is certainly a match for Poppy & Casteel.

Magic: 5/5

This is before a lot of the Blood & Ash magical rules that we know, but it definitely sets the foundation for how things ended up the way that they did and gives much more insight into the rules and ways of the gods and Primals.

Overall: 5/5

I really think it’s going to be a delightful torture to have these two series (Flesh & Fire and Blood & Ash) releasing together as Flesh and Fire gives a lot of context from each series is to be used or discovered within the other. It’s sort of a masterful plan that unravels two intricate stories wrapped up in the same epic world.
