Review:

Myth: 5/5

Celaena may just be my favorite heroine. She is all 90% swagger with skills to back herself up. That doesn’t mean that she lacks depth or internal struggle, it’s just the outward character she presents to the world refuses to break.

She is put to the test as she’s brought to the capital of the kingdom that conquered her homeland and forced to compete to become the king’s assassin. Add in complicated feelings for both the prince and the captain of the guard and you’ve got yourself a wonderful start to an epic story.

Magic: 5/5

There is a lot getting started in book one in the Throne of Glass series. A mysterious magic is introduced that seems to be targeting those in the competition to become champion. Celaena needs to figure it out before she becomes the next target.

Overall: 5/5

Come for Aderlan’s most notorious assassin, stay to see her begin an epic journey to figure out where she fits in a kingdom ruled by her people’s brutal conquerors. Elena thinks that “you could rattle the stars” and I, for one, am here to see it.
