Review:

Myth: 4/5

As the first book in a new series, I respect that it has some world building to setup, but I just had a hard time caring about the characters until the very end. The characters had a clinical distance from each other, even when they were united or standing together, and while it makes sense overall, it doesn’t make for a super engaging first book. It definitely does set the story up to be quite interesting going forward though.

Magic: 3/5

A world of Stewards and Lions, Dark and Light, there is a lot of magical history to explore in book one and the reveals are continuous throughout the story. An interesting setup to be sure, leading our characters to a tumultuous rest of the story.

Overall: 4/5

As a fan of the character driven story, I wasn’t sucked into these characters, but the world building was strong and ultimately we got to a point where I was intrigued by what was up next for the characters. I’ll continue the series to see if the characters are able to pull me in in the next installment as the tensions escalate.
