I jumped into this book without having read any of the previous Witches of Thistle Grove series. I definitely felt like this book could stand alone, but that the ready may get more enjoyment out of it, or feel more of Nina’s character arc with more of the Blackmoore family history from past books. Either way, Nina was a delightful main character, she was well rounded and leaned into that in the prejudices with her love interest.
The romance was really fun, part of ‘magic gone wrong,’ Nina ends up magically bound to her bad first date. The chemistry between Nina and Morty was wonderful and I really just wanted more of it. Though plenty of rom-com misjudgments, their dialogue was lovely and so respectful and their magical connection was off the charts.

I know in a witchy town anything is possible, and I’m not sure how much this was alluded to in previous books, but it just felt a little like a leap on the magical mishaps side of this story. The romantic magic was lots of fun though!
