Goodreads Synopsis

Review:

The conclusion of the Daevabad Trilogy, Narhi must make some tough decisions for herself and her people.

Myth: 4/5

Daevabad has fallen. Nahri finds herself on the opposing side to her mother and Dara.

Nahri and Ali find themselves in Cairo, Nahri’s home. I really enjoyed this book because it put many obstacles in Nahri’s path. Those that you would expect of an epic conclusion (fighting demons and blood magic), but also the more real and challenging obstacles of deciding that this was her fight, or knowing when to let her friends make their own decisions.

Throughout the series, we’ve been introduced to a rich and complicated political world, and in this book Nahri and Ali have to decide how and if they want to shape that world’s future.

The story is told through Nahri’s, Ali’s and Dara’s eyes. Dara’s arc was perfectly done, devastating at times, but a great conclusion.

Magic: 4/5

Nahri, Ali and Dara all go through changes to their power. I loved that Nahri got to prove herself as a healer with or without magic, but I was also thrilled that she stayed true to her roots and increased her power through her con-artist ways.

Ali was a slightly suspected but not unwelcome surprise to learn of his deeper ties to the marid and to learn of their history with the Daevas.

Overall: 4/5

I thought this was a perfect conclusion to the series. I was satisfied with everyone’s ending and could see potential spin off series if Chakraborty so chooses, which is always a nice way to end.
