Review:
Myth: 4/5
While book two in the Draulia Vampire trilogy, the first ~40% of this book overlaps heavily with the first book. The same story is occurring, but we see the scenes from Maia and Dmitri’s perspective instead of Angelica and Voss. I was a little disappointed that in that time period, not many of the scenes were new. There was a new perspective from the masquerade ball that was delightful, but some of the scenes even from Maia and Dmitri’s perspectives we had already gotten a glimpse of in Dark Rogue.
I did like Maia as a heroine much more than Angelica. She was a much more driven character that wanted to be in control of her and her sister’s futures. This made for a much more fiery pairing between Maia and Dmitri since neither were used to being ignored or questioned.
Magic: 4/5
Gleason continues to add new facets to the world of the Draculia, both in their bane and in their bargains with Lucifer. I especially liked the guest appearance of Wayren (a character from other Gleason novels) in this story.
Overall: 4/5
Again, I love the stark contrast of the prim and proper society with the sultry vampire seductions. Even Dmitiri, who fancies himself the vampire saint, living a life of abstinence to try and free himself from Lucifer’s hold, can’t control himself around the elder Miss Woodmore. And we love him for it.
