Review:

Myth: 4.5/5

After Misha’s betrayal and Trinity’s desperate measures, things are finally how they were supposed to be from the beginning. Oh wait, there is that whole “forbidden love,” thing between the Trueborn and her protector. Insert a new round of anxiety inducing sexual tension.

Trinity and Zayne have their assignment, find and take down the Harbinger, but at every turn it seems like the Harbinger is playing with them. This gives us plenty of time to experience Trinity and Zayne trying to figure out their new bond. Trinity definitely grows as a character as she continues to grapple with her potential limitations, with her fears and with her power. My favorite part of this book was Trinity’s inner dialogue as she tries to compartmentalize her life in a mental filing cabinet. I just think this is a fantastic visual to go along with how she tries to deal with her emotional turmoil.

Magic: 4/5

A lot was packed into the last 15% of this book. Critically leaving us on a bit of a cliffhanger, albeit better than where the story was trending to leave us before the last page.

The one magical element I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to dive into more was where the Wardens came from. Roth hinted at it and the Harbinger dropped it in a sentence, but Trinity has yet to peel back the layers of what that does to her worldview. She’s already done a pretty good job dealing with the grey areas of what she was taught growing up, but it just seems like it was missed a little bit in this book.

Overall: 4.5/5

Another exciting installment in the Harbinger series. I love that even when the action isn’t happening, the emotional turmoil gets your heart racing as more than enough to compensate. Unfortunately, now we have to wait until June for the next book.
