Review:

Myth: 5/5

Bella, a recently turned unicorn shift, cares about doing well and making people’s lives better; she’s nosy, curious and reliant on the dark-elves to get her to safety. Dhuro, the dark-elf prince forced to get her to her own people for safety, forces himself to keep her at a distance (emotionally) as her constant questions and interruptions irritate him since he’s not used to someone not simply obeying orders. When Bella shifts into her human form under the light of the moon, it starts a passionate tryst that they agree to keep emotions out of.... which works until their journey to the unicorn herd’s haven is almost complete, a near-death experience and they find themselves trapped in a war they didn’t anticipate.

Magic: 5/5

We have... shifter unicorns. And their magic. Which includes accidentally reading minds, accidentally sharing your own thoughts, accidentally dream swapping with your unconscious lover... have I mentioned this is all from the untrained Bella? It’s such a fun read to see her struggle with trying to control her power, even with the help of a fae horse and tiny pixie, and especially when compared to the utilitarian and starkly controlled Dhuro.

Overall: 5/5

I thought this might be too cheesy featuring a unicorn shifter, but I was dead wrong. This novel had me eager for the next one in the series.
