Review:

Myth: 4/5

I loved the idea of reclaiming the story of Medusa. Medusa is one of Greek mythologies most interesting monsters. It’s always been funny to me that everyone remembers her name from school, but few remember the hero’s name that killed her. This retelling most certainly plays into that. Medusa has a life, dreams, aspirations and they are forever altered by the unwelcome action of a god.

Alexios was a welcome addition, a balance to the evil hearts of men and gods that are at the forefront of the story.

Magic: 4/5

This pretty much covered everything you’d expect from Greek mythology. Gods pretty much doing whatever they want, demi-gods trying to prove their place in the world and mortals just trying to find their own place to live in happiness.

Overall: 4/5

The heart of the story of Medusa is preserved, this retelling does not rewrite history, so prepare yourself for that. The story does give us a much needed look into what made Medusa the monstrous gorgon to be feared.
