Goodreads synopsis

Review:

Myth: 3/5

Touraine and Luca are the unlikely pair. A compulsion towards each other, but also a ruler using her subject for her own strategy. The Unbroken is all epic strategy and intricate politics. A ruler trying to prove herself for her thrown, a soldier for the colonizers, coming back to her colonized homeland. Conflicts abound and in this epic story all characters have difficult choices to make and no one makes it out unscathed.

Magic: 3/5

Though the magic was a steep price in Touraine and Luca’s negotiations, it was not a prevalent part of the story. It’s a key chess piece, but not the strategy driving the story.

Overall: 3/5

Epic fantasy, political strategy and a complicated romantic subplot. While not up my alley, I enjoyed the read and those that like heavy politics and military strategy will enjoy this fantasy world.
