Goodreads synopsis

Review:

Myth: 5/5

I was here for all of it. Being in Ziva’s head as a young woman encountering her first attraction to a boy, but with the addition of social anxiety, just made every moment more special. She knew what she liked (not people) and she thought she had herself figured out (though with very little outside world experience), it really just made this coming of age adventure pop so much more.

The cast of characters was perfect, Ziva’s beautiful and strong sister, a young scholar and the handsome mercenary. They each have their own stories binding them to Ziva’s unexpected journey and it’s such a wonderful ride.

Magic: 4.5/5

We get a good look at Ziva’s bladesmith magic, forging magic into the weapons she makes. The creation of the blade of secrets is truly perfect as you get to know the characters, and honestly Ziva’s entire relationship and learning about her magic really compliment her character.

It seems that in book two we’ll get to discover a little bit more about the magic of the world, just the right amount of information was given in book one to set us up to encounter other magic.

Overall: 5/5

Honestly, I think I’ll go read every book Tricia Levenseller has written now, between this and The Shadows Between Us she is definitely a “read anything she writes” author for me.
