Goodreads synopsis

Review:

Myth: 5/5

Though the antihero of the story, Vanja is a delight from start to finish. Whether wearing one of her facades, or dealing with her deep seated trust trauma. She’s relatable in that she’s a girl who just wants to feel safe, but so far the only person she knows will keep her safe is herself.

Magic: 4/5

Magic runs rampant through this story, from the dark fairy tale beginning, the Vanja is the adopted daughter of Death and Fortune, all the way the way through to magical curses, nightmares and pearls to alter the wearers appearance.

Overall: 4.5/5

Dark fairy tale vibes paired with Vanja’s inability to trust or rely on anyone but herself make this a wildly entertaining story with heart. Owen throws us a dash of clumsy and adorable romance just to further tug at our heartstrings. Vanja is a character I was more than happy to root for.
