Review:

Myth: 3.5/5

I will say that I’m not a big fan of the sleeping beauty story because Aurora has absolutely no agency in my mind, so it was more than refreshing to see an Aurora that wanted to change the world. I did really enjoy Alyce’s character, obviously the way her Dark Grace magic is seen has left a mark on her, but she’s still trying to find her own place in the world.

Magic: 3/5

The history and current standing of the Graces and Vila was a wholly unique world building into the Sleeping Beauty tale. It definitely made for more complex politics and scheming. It also made for a richer history of curses and magic in the land. I really enjoyed that Walter was able to build her own world and history and slip in the sleeping beauty aspects she wanted to play with.

Overall: 3.5/5

A story on the making of a villain. I liked this unique version of Alyce’s perspective on being the evil sorceress in the Sleeping Beauty story. Alyce and Aurora’s story is filled with prejudice, miscommunication and trying to break tradition by forging their own path.
