Goodreads synopsis

Review:

Myth: 5/5

We pick back up with the Haidren as they’re preparing to start a tour of the kingdom. Still dysfunctional and distrusting, they set out in the name of duty, to establish themselves among their people. The first stop, the powerful and dangerous Darakai.

If you loved the political drama of book one, you’ll be glued to the pages in book two as the Haidren faces internal and external threats on their journey. Told through changing perspectives between Luscia, Zaethan and the mysterious figure, a story unfolds filled with prejudice, violence, political intrigue and betrayal. Buckle up for a dramatic ride.

Magic: 5/5

The strange magic that plagues Luscia is a growing treat throughout book two. Inconvenient, overwhelming and unwelcome to our heroine, but I can’t get enough of it. It’s kind of like the chapters with the mysterious figure, I just live for them.

Overall: 5/5

“She was devastation. A phantom to the living. A sentence to the dead.”

I cannot explain how perfectly these luxurious and devastating descriptions of Luscia were dropped into this book. House of Darakai is very much Zaethan’s book. His home, huge parts of his story unfolding and his growth. But just because Zaethan is taking center stage, doesn’t mean that Luscia hides in the background. As we’ve come to expect, she is powerful, controlled, calculating and demanding notice. Enjoy an action packed journey with the Haidren to Darakai and see what new betrayals are in store for our young rulers.
