Review:

Myth: 2/5

A paranormal romance for fans of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. The Darkest Night introduces the reader to a group of dangerous men, each possessed by a demon. The world weaves together ancient greek gods and godesses with present day life.

I didn’t love BDB, and I felt that their stories still focused more on the couple. This story spent a lot of time on the demon possessed warriors, but even with the page time, I didn’t feel like I got a sense for any of the character’s relationships with each other. None of them seemed to have a lot of depth, it was a lot of what you see is what you get.

Magic: 3/5

I’m a big fan of stories that play with Greek mythology and though some of the characters/stories were mentioned, at this point in the Lords of the Underworld series, the mythology itself wasn’t really tied to the story. It might pick up later in the series, but I didn’t enjoy the first one enough to continue.

Overall: 2/5

I couldn’t really connect with Ashlyn, and though she was the female lead, I felt like her part in the story was pretty minor. Though not for me, I could definitely see fans of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series getting into this, lots of old school, alpha males each likely to find their beauty.
