Review:

Myth: 2/5

This book includes a lot of things that I love, dragons, elves, a competition for queen, but I think the pacing and characters missed the mark for me.

The romance relationship development scenes felt a bit more tell than show, and therefore the chemistry between the male and female leads didn’t hit home. Many of the characters felt a little flat to me, not just the leads but also the villain, no one had a lot of depth to dive into and understand their motivations.

Magic: 3/5

I did enjoy the world of Umbra, the magical beings, elves, dwarves, pixies, dragons and more were in hiding or trying to pass as human to escape oppression from the King.

The dragon’s backstory and people’s history got the most attention in this book, but it’s definitely the start of a series so I’m sure other magical beings will get more attention later.

Overall: 2/5

An epic fantasy world that kicks off a magical adventure with elves, dragon shifters and more in the land of Umbra.
