Review:

Myth: 5/5

I adored this book from start to finish. One could almost say that it’s got a bit of grumpy/sunshine, where the main character, El, is pretty angry at the world, and the white knight of her school year blasts into her room to ‘save’ her. El is complex in her internal struggles, and it feels natural that we figure some of her ideas out along with her. She’s the outcast and so easy to root for.

Magic: 5/5

A magical school bent on trimming each class, a society of collectives and independent magic wielders, those in the collectives seeming to have a shared advantage that the independents can’t match. When advantage means survival, it’s no wonder that El is a bit disgruntled at where the chips fall, not that she’ll let that stop her from fighting for her survival.

Overall: 5/5

I gasped on the last page, my eyes “accidentally” skipping a paragraph ahead to read the italicized message. This one definitely left me wanting more.
