I LOVE a good epistolary story. This reminded me of The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy in a lot of ways. The letters were being written to strangers and magically delivered. The strangers happen to know each other in real life and are rivals! Chef’s kiss.
Magic: 4/5
This was so unique - it was a historical setting, similar to what you think of for WW2, but the war raging is that of gods. There are also magic typewriters! For all this world feels like “ours” it really does have bigger magical elements in it to make the story wholly unique.

Yes. I quite enjoyed this story and I can’t wait for the next one.
