Review:

Myth: 3/5

I really enjoyed the literary fiction aspect of this book. In the academic world in which we find Felicity, working through more than just grief and guilt, she’s studying literature with an unreliable narrator. The play between the author and the unreliable subject is used with quite a bit and definitely turned on its head. It was so well done and super interesting.

Magic: 3/5

The concept of this story is to focus on proving that occult magics aren’t real and that spirits don’t exist. So it’s more of a thriller-esque ride as Felicity and Ellis get themselves further and further into trying to test out their scenarios.

Overall: 3/5

It’s always a little hard to tell where dark academia is going to fall, more heavily paranormal or more suspense thriller. I’d say this one fell on the latter overall.
