Review:

Myth: 4/5

This is a book I would totally read based on cover alone, but there was so much more to go with it. The scene was a mesmerizing mix of magic, stage performance and mystery.

The story was great, a little slow in the second act, but really the story felt like a performance itself. I really enjoyed Kallia’s character, there to perform, outshine and cause general mischief. Though Daron was a delightful counter to Kallia, I think that her assistant Aaros was the star of the ensemble cast. He was a mischievous treat in every scene he graced.

Magic: 3.5/5

I think a lot of the lack of information on the magic was very intentional, though that didn’t stop me from wanting more. I think the biggest piece that I couldn’t get a hold of was the history of Glorian. There is no question that we’ll get more of this in the next installment though. Overall Kallia and Jack’s magic especially were easy to see and simply stunning in my head.

Overall: 4/5

I was a total sucker for Kallia’s battle armor attitude. She knew what she wanted and was going to go for it. The aesthetic of this book was on point. I felt like I was in a lush, dizzying, mirror maze the entire time, in the most delightful way.
