Review:

Myth: 3/5

I really liked that this Beauty and the Beast retelling preserved a favorite detail of mine, the beast’s library. It was so fun that Sybil and Gerald’s common interest was reading and discussing books. As a book lover, (obviously) I’ve always dreamt of “Belle’s library,” this story takes and expands that little detail.

Sybil and Gerald make for a cute retelling. Expect all the Beast and Beauty tropes with a dash of gender reversal.

Magic: 3/5

The magic themes in this series are what tie them together. It’s a really fun way to retell so many fairy tales, they are tied together by and underlying search to rally mages to help banish the trolls that were part of the Princes’ original curse. This larger story about the fate of the kingdoms is interwoven with each individual retelling.

Overall: 3/5

An enjoyable retelling giving us the classic tale of a Beast and her Beauty while setting the stage for a magical battle to determine the fate of the kingdoms.
