Review:

Myth: 4/5

I don’t know where to start. A lot happened very quickly at the end of Serpent & Dove so that left all the characters with a lot to process. Lou and Reid admittedly don’t do terribly well with their feelings. That’s fine, I think that’s the point of the second book. They have a lot to process and have to figure out if they can accept themselves and each other and make it through, together.

There were a few new characters, I particularly enjoyed the traveling show. But the story still focused on Lou and Reid and their cat and mouse game with Morgane.

Magic: 4/5

Part of both Lou’s and Reid’s struggles have to do with their magic. Reid, predictably, doesn’t want to acknowledge his. Lou, on the other hand, wants to dive into the deep end to save those she loves. No cost is too high. A little scary for the character, but made for really fun bursts of power within the story.

Overall: 4/5

If the characters found each other and love in Serpent and Dove, Blood and Honey is about if they can overcome challenges together. It’s not always my favorite part of the story because the challenges generally equal heartbreak for the reader, but totally necessary to get to the other side.
