Review:

Myth: 4/5

I think that Tamsin had me pretty quickly with her inability to feel. It felt familiar in that the character would be sarcastic, tart (oh, maybe Bitter), and powerful. However, it was wholly new in the fact that this was actually a curse and we’d learn more about the layers of Tamsin’s character throughout the journey.

I loved the grumpy/sweetheart romance and it was my first experience with this trope in a FF context so it was delightful to experience what is traditionally the ‘male grump character’ as a fierce female.

Magic: 3/5

While this was a ‘magic needs balance’ type of world, the story itself didn’t seem to go into the magic that much. It worked fine with the story, as the major plot requirement was understanding the implications of dark magic in this world, and that was clear.

Overall: 4/5

A charming FF fantasy. Tamsin and Wren are a sweet and bitter pair as they team up to face Tamsin’s past and hunt a dark witch causing unknown destruction outside of the Witchlands.
