Jessie and Austin have been tiptoeing around their feelings for each other for the last 3 books… with a title like this, I was expecting a little more, uh, amped up action in the love department. Instead, there’s a cooling off period as Austin distances himself from Jessie to figure out his feelings and what he really wants. Ugh, will these two ever get together?

Fortunately, Jessie has a lot to keep her occupied since there’s a new mage in town intent on helping her learn her gargoyle magic. And unlike this last “helpers” that she called, this one’s only intent is to help her harness and grow in her talent, no amorous influences here. (Another misnomer of the book. I thought if Austin isn’t going for it, perhaps we’ll get someone who will! Alas, no.) We also have more shifters in the town and another magical assault… what’s a woman to do?

Like Jessie, I want some closure in her life - give us a love scene or give us some resolution with the big bad. I’m getting antsy!
