Review:
Myth: 3/5
The second installment in the Roaring Twenties series features another Magnusson brother. He finds himself half archeologist, half con-artist and completely fixated on Hadley, a museum curator and daughter of the man who just hired him for a mythical treasure hunt.
Sparks fly through the city by the bay as they team up to track down a powerful artifact and decide whether or not they can trust each other.
Magic: 3/5
The world of Grim Shadows incorporates spirit mediums, spirits and magical curses. All are paranormal happenings in the roaring twenties of San Francisco. Our heroine has control over a particularly vicious set of ghosts that are tied through a curse to strong emotions, so buckle up whenever she gets angry.
Overall: 3/5
Though, as a romance, Grim Shadows delivers the HEA (Happily Ever After), it definitely does so with some dark turn. I couldn’t totally get into the characters, Lowe’s a charming con artist and Hadley, cold and isolated, until pulled out of her shell by Lowe. Overall, it was a quick read with just a dash of the paranormal.
