Goodreads synopsis

Review:

Myth: 3/5

I quite enjoyed the first part of Jade’s adventure back to her magical small town after growing up in a technology fueled city. Though as soon as the story made it to Jade’s magical town, all thoughts of the city and politics seemed forgotten. Jade has some work to do to take her place in her coven, reconnecting with old friends, magic and grief.

I was pulled along by the story, but struggled to connect with the characters. They seemed just a little too explanatory of their thoughts and feelings as opposed to experiencing them right along with the characters.

Magic: 3.5/5

A world of both magic and technology, separated into cities and small towns. Her coven’s magic needs her help and Jade is called home by this responsibility. Expect elemental magic, coven rituals and power of the goddess.

Overall: 3/5

Dust on the Altar is about Jade’s past, confronting her grief and anger and deciding how she wants to move forward with her life. With new and old friendships she faces the coven she walked away from and has to decide if she’s willing to take her place with them.
