Review:

Myth: 4/5

The World After picks up immediately after the events of Angelfall. Remarkably, this book keeps up the fast-pace of the previous books. The language and pace are so perfectly suited for the story material, it literally makes me feel like I’m constantly finding a way to survive after the world goes bananas.

This book keeps Penryn and Raffe on different journeys for a good part of the story, but I couldn’t get enough of Pooky Bear as a ‘Raffe substitute’ during those parts of the story.

Magic: 4.5/5

I just loved how this book unpacked a dangerous blend of magic and technology, or magic and science. It’s one of my favorite themes and worked so well with post-apocalyptic Silicon Valley vibes being thrown out.

Overall: 4/5

Though this book left us on a slightly more hopeful note than Angelfall, it still left me begging for more. I can’t wait to start End of Days to see how Penryn’s story concludes.
