Review:
Myth: 4.5/5
I loved Alosa’s character. She is such a strong, merciless pirate when need be, but she’s also a girl trying to figure out her family relationships and what to do with this distracting pirate boy that is technically her prisoner. Alosa also has a strong found family in her crew. It wasn’t as obvious in book one given that she was mostly separated from them, but it’s very present in book two. Expect a lot of pirate shenanigans, chasing treasure, taking vengeance and ocean battles.
The stakes are even higher in book two as Alosa confronts her parent’s history and her father’s secrets.
Magic: 5/5
Oh, I just squealed in delight at the way that Alosa’s control over her siren nature evolved. It was perfect and her internal dialogue on it was also perfect. I love when characters are self aware of emotional hurdles that they’ve decided they’re not ready to confront.
Overall: 4.5/5
An exciting conclusion to Alosa’s story. There was plenty of action and adventure as well as the constant distraction that is Riden.
