Review:

Myth: 3/5

The second installment in the Bargainer series takes us deep into the heart of the Otherworld. No longer able to return to the human world, given her physical changes, Callie is recovering in Des’s palace. This book isn’t as fast paced as the first, but it’s time well spent while Callie heals and explores the parts of Des she thought she’d never get to see. Most of book two focuses on Callie and Des’s relationship dynamics, especially as they are thrown into the deep end quickly with a summer solstice event, forcing them to leave the safety of Des’s land and dance the dance of dangerous court politics.

Magic: 3/5

It was fun to see the magic of the Otherworld, each different location having its own magic. In learning about the other fae courts too, you get to see a lot of new magics. This is definitely an expansive world and the story is still unfolding so the rules of magic (or lack thereof) are still to be determined.

Overall: 3/5

Callie has to find her footing in the Otherworld. She’s used to being a strong siren in the mortal world, but her magic doesn’t bring her the same strength with the fae. She’s also reeling from the traumatic events of the first book. She’s got a lot to overcome and her dark and dangerous mate by her side, what could go wrong?
