Magic and those that have it play a big part in the politics of the story. Forbidden, exploited, leveraged, all amongst a rising rebellion within the Cyrilian empire.

Book two pushes Ana to confront why she wants to rule. To understand that there may be more than two sides in this war, and to make sure she knows what she’s willing to do to rule Cyrilia.
