Review:

Myth: 4/5

Gin didn’t let me down in book two and at this point I’m ready to buckle down and dive deep into the Elemental Assassin world. Not a small feat since it’s like 16 books long at this point. She continued to be a strong, no-nonsense heroine. She’s had a taste of retirement and found it rather dull, so now she’s ready to use her skill set for whatever projects she deems worthy.

As with the first book, I wasn’t super pulled to the Gin/Donovan romance, but I felt like there was plenty of potential introduced in this book for evolving romantic plots.

Magic: 4/5

This story was definitely about Gin tapping into her power. She never wanted to rely on it, as an assassin, that could get her killed quickly, but that also meant that she didn’t have a great relationship with her magic. This is something she has to unblock for herself and really figure out what she’s really capable of.

Overall: 4/5

An action packed adventure as Gin tries to navigate “retirement,” while trying to understand why Fletcher left her a packet of information about the past she thought he knew nothing about. I definitely like the build in this story arc as Gin goes from kickass assassin to searching out what she wants to do next.
