A sci if world of Kinsmen, where genetically altered traits are passed down through genealogy and families control the politics and commerce of the worlds. (Yes, more than one obviously because this is sci fi). Meli has the rare ability to manipulate energy to kill, making her the perfect assassin to go undetected in a world where everyone is routinely assessed for genetically enhanced threats. The “magic”, politics and commerce are thoroughly tied in this world and dependent on one another. It’s a “magic” completely unique from other Ilona Andrews worlds - one you have to be born into.
