Review:

Myth: 3.5/5

I’ve heard great things about the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, one of the longest running vampire romance series around. I liked the introduction to a gritty world. Vampires fight for survival. Though not the traditional hunters of humans, these vampires are the hunted. Their people are spread out, easily picked off by the vampire hunting group known as the lessers.

The first book focuses on the blind king, Wrath and Beth, a woman on the verge of becoming a vampire (but has no idea about that). While in the end I got into their romance, the introductory steps were a little too forced for me. I like the characters to have some initial pull to each other. By the end of the book, the relationship had developed, and so did the beginnings of the ensemble family relationship, which is a favorite of mine.

Magic: 4/5

I enjoyed the new twists on the vampire world. Dematerializing, drinking vampire blood, not being able to turn humans and a vampire king. I can’t wait to see where these worlds take us.

Overall: 3.5/5

A welcome introduction to the brotherhood. My interest in the world is certainly piqued.
