Review:

Myth: 4/5

Rule of Wolves brought an epic conclusion to Zoya, Nina and Nikolai’s stories. There were some additional perspective chapters from the Monk and Mayu (in Shu), while these perspectives were definitely necessary to tell the full story, I didn’t always love them because they seemingly detoured us from the main story lines. Don’t worry, they were all necessary to tell the story and Leigh Bardugo clearly knows what she’s doing ;) .

Magic: 4/5

Although not quite sure what to do with it, I loved that Zoya got this badass dragon power. The fiercest Ravkan general just leveled up. There was a great line in this book when Zoya and Nikolai were conversing with the darkling, talking about how he may have been a monster, but that monsters rule Ravka now. It was sort of the perfect lead for the journey the main characters needed to take in learning how to deal with their powers.

Overall: 4/5

I think I was so into this book because it couldn’t help but crossover with my favorite barrel gang (and leave us needing more of them). While Zoya, Nina and Nikolai’s stories had super satisfying conclusions, it was definitely the leave me wanting more feeling that set this book over the top.
