Review:

Myth: 4/5

I was fascinated by the way that this story was laid out. There was definitely no ‘info dump’ getting into this story. In the first book, information about Loom and the oppression of the Dragon King is given in small drips. I was always eager to learn more about the world, but the world and Ari’s story are so interconnected, that it made perfect sense why some of the info couldn’t be given sooner.

I loved that Ari was so badass with Flor as the one chink in the armor. The one that didn’t slip by her walls but was allowed close enough to start to understand them. The chemistry with Cvareh wasn’t strong throughout the book, but give it time, I think there was just a lot of baggage to overcome before they could even start having something like chemistry. I expect a stronger romantic subplot in the rest of the series.

Magic: 4/5

This was awesome, so Frankenstein with a bit more blood, maybe even a dash of Dracula. It really worked with the setting of the story.

Overall: 4/5

It took a minute to get sucked into the rich steampunk world of Loom and Nova, but once I was in, I was hooked. Ari makes for a complex heroine with a rich history and kick-ass alter ego and I am officially along for the ride.
