Review:

Myth: 4/5

Fortuna is strong and she knows it. She has powers to be feared, literally, and she’s willing to use them to protect those she loves. Book one has very similar plot elements to A Court of Thorns and Roses trials under the mountain, but I can tell that the Nightmare aspect of Fortuna will be the unique anchor throughout this story.

Lots of love interests in book one, maybe too many, but as the start to a six book series there will be a lot of room to play with the characters and romantic developments.

Magic: 4/5

Very cool magical concepts. I liked the nightmares, descendants of the fallen along with all the fun faerie court expectations and traditions.

Overall: 4/5

An interesting start to a Nightmare trying to survive her time in a faerie court. Intertwining the magic and otherness with the Fallen is a very cool take to me and I can’t wait to learn more about the world.
